Who is theefunklord?

Approximately 463 years, 4 hours, and 27 minutes after Charles V declared the beginning of the Diet of Worms, and exactly 4 days after the first Apple Macintosh computer was released to the public (....when fannypacks were still cool...) Young Funk the Tertiary was conceived in the Windy City. Little did people know that when two of the funkiest humans in the world got together, they'd produce a kid possessing nearly seventy-five times the funk of a Parliament record.

If you've heard the guitars of Jimmy Nolen, Eddie Hazel, Jimi Hendrix, Wes Montgomery or Dr. Know, you can begin to understand just who theefunklord really is (if you haven't heard, you should do some research..). As he continues to talk about himself in the third person, theefunklord describes himself as an interesting fellow driven by a love of music and the arts from a very young age. Young funklord was lucky to grow up surrounded by his parents' amazing music collection. From Bach to the Breakin' Soundtrack, funklord immersed himself in sound, not realizing how important it would prove to be later in his life.

After just a few years on the South Side of Chicago, Funk & Family relocated to Montclair, New Jersey. Montclair became his playground, literally, as Young Funk spent hours doodling and drawing with his friends from art classes, playing soccer, and learning the drums with the 'Drums of Thunder' Corps at Hillside Elementary School. Mother Funk pushed her child to explore all that the arts and music had to offer, and he never forgot that. After a decade of growth and radioactivity in North Jersey, adolescent Funk & Family moved back to the Chicagoland area (H-F!!!). A couple of years later, after tiring of the cornfields, the Funky Bunch moved back to the East Coast. Philadelphia was now Funk's new home, and there he began to thrive...

Following up on the wishes of his late mother, Young Funk began studying Mandarin Chinese (Zhongwen for the slowfaces) and taking classes in Conestoga High School's renowned Arts and Digital Media program. After completing the circuit of varying artistic mediums (paint/sketch/sculpture), the door to the realm of graphic and web design opened.
Funk finished out his time at Conestoga ('02) completing Mandarin studies (visiting Shanghai in 2001), learning CAD drafting software, and dabbling in 3-D media with Poser, Bryce, and Raydream while setting up his first website/portfolio for the Arts Department website.

After graduating from 'Stoga, Funk was able to squeeze the remaining bits of intelligence out of his brain, and onto an application form for the University of Pennsylvania, in lovely scenic West Philadelphia.ha! When the admissions department realized they had the chance to accept one of the Funkiest individuals to ever walk the Earth, they didn't hesitate. Funk arrived in the Quad in the autumn of 2002, and immersed himself in college life. Some fun was had (of course), but Funk remembered why he was there, and soldiered on...Some more Mandarin studies and Sociology classes happened....Funk attended SOAS - University of London in 2004, and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 2006...

Since then Funklord has been harnessing his ki whilst gaining wisdom from Sensei Dr. Funk, and honing his skills in the web, graphic, and musical sperical regions. He has been freelancing and working professionally as a web designer in the Philadelphia area and launched the Creative Confederation Design Group in 2009 with his cousin, to provide small businesses and non profit organizations with quality web hosting and design services. For the past year on the professional front he's immersed himself heavily in learning more about servers and the technology that actually makes the web stuff work- which truly makes him The Digitally-Enhanced Renaissance Man. Funklord tries to maintain his coolness by hosting a weekly show (Wednesdays 9-11pm EST/Eastern Jawn Time) on Philadelphia Drum and Bass Radio, or PhillyDnB for short, and working dilligently on his EP to be released sometime in the fall winter of 2010 Fall of 2011 2012. It will most likely be a little bit of this and a little bit of that; which leaves this open to you to imagine what might be on it. Inuit Polka-Step. Indeed.
